First luxury hybrid electric polar exploration ship
First launched in March 2020, Le Commandant Charcot has been busy proving herself in incredible locations around the polar regions. She is fitted with a Polar Class 2 (PC2) giving her the ability to sail between the sheets of drifting sea ice and reach the most remote and isolated regions, when conditions allow. She is powered by liquified natural gas, and is the epitome of a more responsible and sustainable sailing. Protecting the polar ecosystems and the coastal sea ice – a vital habitat for marine wildlife – is a big priority. Her ice-breaking capabilities are are extraordinary – 2.5m thick fast ice is well within her remit.
Le Commandant Charcot is one of the most advanced polar vessels at sea today. Being French the standards in the restaurant are second to none. She also has two restaurants, a spa, sauna, snow room, indoor swimming pool, outdoor hot tub spanning the aft deck, outdoor BBQ area with heated seating and a science lab. Throughout you will find understated yet elegant decor.
